Antique Wood 1900 Slazenger DOHERTY Patent Shoulders Tennis Racket
Excellent rare racket: CLASSIC vintage
old early wood wooden racquet from well-known English maker in excellent condition.
This racquet was the premium segment of the Slazenger brand.
NOTE

MODEL

“DOHERTY
” by Slazenger Ltd; Made in London, England.  In their catalog, Slazenger called this the “best racket made” so it was their top of the line at the very least.  Named for the famed world champion Doherty brothers.
HEAD
: Classic long period oval; stock is square at the shoulders and around the top of head; retains some of original soft glow finish
WARPING
: none
FRAME:
excellent condition; less than expected wear to the top of the head.
THROAT WEDGE:
one solid piece mahogany and convex in the style of the period; note the PATENT SHOULDER overlays
STRINGS
: look like original thick animal gut as shown
BANDING
: retains the 2 original very thin gauge shoulder wrap bands on the head
DECALS
: None; all marking are stamped /incised / branded.
GRIP
