  • Condition: Extremely Collectible, Jefferies "Gaiety" Fishtail Antique Tennis Racquet. This rare all original early Jefferies of London "Gaiety" Fishtail tennis racquet was made for “Hope Brothers Ltd, Sports Outfitters”, who were fine retailers established in 1874 by Thomas Peacock in London. Stamped “Gaiety” with gold script on the throat with the “Hope Brothers Ltd, Sports Outfitters” Gold, Green, and Black decal logo on the back side. The Hope decal logo has a several scrapes, nicks, and worn areas. The racquet is made of light fine woods and stamped “12 OZ” on the side of the shaft. Strung with original antique natural rough gut with four broken strings with trebling at the top and bottom all intact. The handle and Fishtail are in good condition. The racquet is straight with an attractive dark amber patina with minor scrapes, scratches, dings, and dirt as expected on an early antique fishtail tennis racquet. This very desirable racquet is in original antique condition. See all photos.

    Jefferies was an early, innovative firm of fine craftsmen who produced high quality tennis racquets and sports equipment.
    Stamped “

    ” with gold script on the throat with the “
