"If you can tie a shoe lace, you can Macrame...it's that simple. Just two basic knots are required, the Double Half Hitch and the Square Knot. Most of you learned how to make these knots in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts but if you didn't, it may take an hour or so of practice before starting your first Macrame project.
If you think Macrame is a new idea, think again. It's been with us for centuries. It was especially popular with 19th century sailors, who spen long hours knotting to pass time.
We have given you ideas and patterns in this book, but after your first few projects, you will start creating your own patterns."
